Downtown Wall Street Shuffle...

downtown shuffle in the late night...got confused on the subway and turned around in the Wall Street canyons...reflected light in the cold empty space...in the cold empty heart of American capitalism I could feel the transcenental beauty, for whatever that is worth in a new york moment...

the voice comes back...it's sensed in the rythym which fills the body with a magic...to sing the blues you must live them...I have been a refuge in the American night....writing strange hieroglphyics on the void's chalkboard...I saw the lies goes down over the last thirty years...I didn't quite know how it was going down but intuitively as a poet I sensed it...when the details came out, I said, aha, that's how they did it...the virus of public relations has infected every being of our consciousness...we are madison avenue junkies, power junkies, sex junkies, our shit flapping in the winde..but now the words and the melodies fill my soul and I let the words out in a torrent of expression...the grey hair atop of my head and the scars over my body testify the rough going I have had at times...like standing hours as a security guard in frozen parking lots sniffing drain pipes, or minimum wage pay at as delivery office blow boy, or mind deadening data entry work down in the bowels of the corporate scum, or the mind blowing numbing isolated sensation of being ignored desexed maimed in the american miasma and still the expression comes on strong my only friend to the end, tap, tap, tap the words they explode mushrooming in ezra pound symphonies...

Ideological Interests...

D. mused on the thought that the art of any period tends to serve the ideological interests of the ruling class...all reality was measured by its materiality...

Sexual desire...

Ida May was against a culture where Good Girls Don't. She despised the fact that sexual desire was rarely experienced as an unalloyed good, but bought fears of moral turpitude for women, and they may feel relieved to have desire abate.

Thug or savior...

The question became whether Tyler was a thug or savior?

in the name of...

zack smiter pretended to provide safety to war-torn America while using high-tech military intelligence goon squads to hold on to power.

The Radio Dream wanted to break down the wall between users and creators...

Content..

Democracy...

Zack Smiter was able to proclaim America's sacred mission to bring democarcy to the world without criticism from the educated classes. The media never bothered to cover the abuses of American foreign policy.

Brand and public relations...

D. wanted to make a parody of public relation professionals who believe dan emerging brand has a story to tell. The holy grail for them was the narrative. They argued it was far more compelling than the front of a package, an ingredients list, or a homepage. It made the product exclusive reflecting its passion. There was total belief in what had been and its importance in people's daily lives.

Sometimes it drove D. to drink watching these people craft those stories struggling to share them with the right audiences in the most meaningful and effective ways. They became realy good at kissing the right people's asses which they called key influencers.

The myth of Zack Smiter...

Underneath the hot Florida sun fueled by an ice coffee venti D. worked on his screenplay. Decidinig to make fun of Frontline, the liberal pbs news documentary show, he put the words in a liberal college professor who obviously liked the sound of his own voice.

“The Radio Dream was born of anger: a great bewilderment over the myth that continues to surround the presidency of Zack Smiter. They gave voice to a vast swath of psychically disenfranchised Americans, millions of them, lumped who never understood Smiter’s appeal.” The Radio Dream's thesis is nothing less than that Zack Smiter was the “obvious enemy of the common people he claimed to represent, a posturing empty suit who believed in flying saucers and allowed an astrologer to guide his presidential scheduling. ...”

His legacy—mergers, deregulation, tax cuts for the wealthy, privatization, globalization—helped weaken the family and eradicate small-town life and sense of community.”

D. took a pause and inhaled a drag off his Marlboro enjoying the Florida warmth...

Zack Smiter called it our "Rendezvous with Destiny."And then he promptly abolished all freedoms with the creation of perpetual war.

Green film making...

Film critic...

the notion of a film critic was irrevelant today....who needs someone to be an authority...there were so many sources of information...

Open Source...

Warfare has gone open source...the meaning of war had changed...a new experience of war...a definition of what it meant to be a warrior....the war movie had changed....Zack Smiter took great satisfaction with that...war had gone 24/7...a constant entertainment for the people...the best warriors were the one's who were the best at X box...it gave them great skills at manipulating the drones and robots which make up warfare in the present...

Insects...

Zack Smiter looked at his enemies as insects. He employed unmanned drones to attack the Radio Dream hiding up in the hills. This way he did not have to waste manpower. It played into his cavillier attitude towards death. If a drone was shot down, he could replace it. He did not have to have a draft. He did not have to raise taxes. Plus it created youtube war. The drones recorded everything they saw...war porn was great entertainment....the masses loved it...

Slash and Burn Horror Flick...

Money made Zack's men like undead zombies in the horror flick that American politics had become. It didn't matter that their ideology had been discredited by failure, their careers could not be killed. These political immortals were allowed to mindlessly move forward and never haing to answering to rivals.

Entertainment...

D. writes that in inverted totalitarianism consumer goods and a comfortable standard of living, along with a vast entertainment industry that provides spectacles and diversions, keep the citizenry politically passive. He asked if the economic collapse and the steady decline in our standard of living might not, in fact, trigger classical totalitarianism. Could widespread frustration and poverty lead the working and middle classes to place their faith in demagogues, especially those from the Christian right?

Corporate Media...

Zack created a corporate media that controlled nearly everything we read, watch or hear and imposes a bland uniformity of opinion or diverts us with trivia and celebrity gossip. In classical totalitarian regimes, such as Nazi fascism or Soviet communism, economics was subordinate to politics. “Under inverted totalitarianism the reverse is true,” Wolin writes. “Economics dominates politics—and with that domination comes different forms of ruthlessness.”

Torture Chamber...

Today was the day they would be filming Ida May's torture scene...she would be hanging from the ceiling...the director of photography decided upon a washed out look to go with the Director go for a speed up and then slow down filming of the scene...

The social nature of the Radio Dream....

The Radio Dream accelerated as a method of connecting people to one another as well as to news, information and other snippets of value, helping people who weren't all that social, that aren't inherently “connectors,” or are individuals who were simply not all that interested in connecting with other people in some virtual way.

Saturday Afternoon laid off...

D. laid off from any meaningful employment spent the Saturday afternoon drinking cheapies and doing one hits while watching action formula movies on TNT for inspiration for his screenplay. The character archtypes were all there....the despot...the agent...the sexy spy....
