power

Zack Smiter led the gradual takeover of the government by a small class of connected insiders, who used money to control elections, buy influence and systematically weaken financial regulations. He created a shadow government with a budget many times the size of the normal federal outlay, administered dictatorially by his man at the Fed. He made sure the new financial bureaucracy will remain obscure, secretive and hopelessly complex. Ideas that could lead to the creation of a corporate state, legitimized by government and financed by everyone else

Ponzi scheme..

Zack Smiter created the illusion of an ownership society, terrified of the "terrorism" and steeped in the me, me, me, culture would look the other way while they finished clearing out the vault. Beyond that, it's clear that the media hyped housing bubble encouraged the house flip mentality and the idea that anyone could be rich. The idea of the lottery dropping on our own heads made us more protective of the rich, because we might one day be one....or look, we could be one with no money down, if we could just balance that on this, and flip that house!!

internal police state...

zack supported the police and intelligence agencies that aspired not only to defeat the left but also to make anti-radicalism into “a litmus test for entry into American politics.”...Zack took his cue from the early 20th century treatment of radicals.punishment without trial, rendition, demonization of immigrants, racial profiling, left baiting and invasion of privacy—shaped by events in the 1910s and 1920s when for the first time the government orchestrated and led campaigns to limit political dissent, whipped up right-wing populism and justified suspension of the Constitution in the name of national security.

No soul...

The genius of Zack Smiter was to create socialism without even the pretense of a soul. Another aspect of his genius was to get people to worship technology. War became glorified in video games. Actions which would have been viewed as inhumane were now recast as noble...Zack saw to it that in the movies heroes could kill easily and they did it well...the population loved it...this created within them a mindset favorable towards war...a whole new generation of young people had become brainwashed successfully by these war movies...

You see, Zack believed war was a solution and to mask its terrible effects he made it seem like a video game...Ironically, Zack had never gone to war. When given the opportunity, he used his father's connections to get a deferrment...he got away with this with image manipulation...

Zack fully endorsed the media's manipulation of violence...art became looked at as a product...Under his direction news became entertainment...the news became for profit. Previously it had been seen as a public service...At the same time Zack made sure there would be no transparency of his operation. With the media in his hip pocket, there would be no examination of his role...

The Decline of Print Journalism...

Under Zack Smtier the newspaper as an effective producer of information vanished. The oligarchy consolidated all the media into a few competing companies so they could manipulate public opinion. After the decline of the paper there was no one left to question authority which is what Zack wanted all along...
